Immigrant Pathways Colorado (IPIC) has announced receipt of a grant totaling $3,000 from the Littleton Rotary Foundation. The grant will allow IPC to make self-development grants to immigrants who are in Colorado with documents and who have very low income.
IPC’s self-development grants are for things such as applying for citizenship, learning English, and taking training classes to gain ability to work as a doctor, lawyer, dentist or teacher; or to become a medical, dental or pharmaceutical technician, a car repair specialist, a real estate appraiser, or a medical or mental health interpreter. Other self-development grants have been for obtaining tools for work and much more.
In addition to its self-development grants for hard-working immigrants, refugees and asylees, IPC conducts educational workshops about immigrantion for the community and provides scholarships for immigrant students studying at Arapahoe Community College.
IPC’s founder and co-director, Susan Thornton, thanked Littleton Rotary Foundation for its support, saying that not only is the Foundation’s financial support very helpful, but that “Rotary Foundation’s careful assessment of community needs and nonprofits shows its faith in the work of IPC.” She notes that IPC has made self-development grants to immigrants from more than 27 countries to date.
